Speaker: Dr. Stephen Terry is a Research Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University. He is the Director of the MAE Energy Solutions and the NCSU MAE Industrial Assessment Center, a U.S. Department of Energy program. As part of that program he has worked with small and medium sized manufacturing plants around North Carolina since 1992, helping them reduce energy costs and increasing energy efficiency. He is also a DDE Steam Expert and conducts steam system assessments at manufacturing plants around the country.
Topic: Manufacturers often have many opportunities for saving energy and reducing energy costs. These can range from capital intensive measures like replacing lighting with LED and upgrading HVAC systems to low cost opportunities like reducing air compressor pressure and control setpoints. This presentation will summarize some common opportunities the NCSU Industrial Assessment Center has seen over the last 24 years of doing industrial energy assessments and discuss free resources available to manufacturers.
