Please join us on Tuesday, July 9th, from 11:30 - 1:00pm at Highwoods Conference Center, 416-G, Gallimore Dairy Road, Greensboro 27409 to hear Lisa Hamp's story about surviving the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007,
and the lessons she learned from this tragedy. Please note that this date is different than our regular 2nd Thursday of the month date, to accommodate Lisa's schedule.

Virginia Tech Shooting Survivor
Lisa Hamp is a survivor of the Virginia Tech shooting that took place on April 16, 2007. With her classmates, she built a barricade to prevent the shooter from entering their classroom. She regularly shares her experience during and after the shooting, as well as lessons learned from the Virginia Tech tragedy, to first responders, mental health professionals, educators and community leaders. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post, Huffington Post, Campus Safety Magazine, Domestic Preparedness Journal and many other prominent news outlets. She works with the Koshka Foundation and Safe and Sound Schools to improve prevention and response to active threat and recovery after crisis. Lisa is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech, a Master’s degree in Operations Research from George Mason University, and a Master’s degree in Economics from John Hopkins University.
