Utility incentive programs are shifting to recognize emerging technologies, often working with their
customers and vendors on projects to save energy. One of these shifts is to focus on promoting
organizational cultures that incorporate continuous improvements in energy efficiency. Tom Foster,
President of Commissioning WorCx, will review some of the current utility energy efficiency incentives
and discuss how they’re being applied to some local clients, including Gilbarco. John Furlough,
Safety-Facility Manager from Gilbarco, will assist in the presentation. Expect to learn how you can
leverage the utility company to help you meet your energy savings goals.

Tom Foster Jr. is the founder of Commissioning WorCx, an independent Commissioning provider
located near Greensboro. Tom is, or has been, involved in more than 11,000,000 sf of commissioning,
including approximately 80 LEED projects, as well as numerous non-LEED projects, including universities,
hospitals, manufacturing facilities, and privately owned buildings. He is actively involved in promoting the
commissioning process in North Carolina and helping owners cut their energy expenses in the Triad area
where he lives. Tom lives in a house that would qualify for LEED Silver certification that he built 35 years ago,
so as he says “this is not new; it is just common sense.” Foster’s specialty is fixing existing buildings that don’t
work right and improving their energy efficiency (retrocommissioning), based on 25 years of experience as a
design/build mechanical installation, service and controls contractor.
