Program Details:
We welcome three of our members for a round table discussion on Return to the Workplace. We are all wanting to hear what others are doing. They will talk about how they managed during the early days of COVID and then what their organizations are doing now to return. We expect lots of audience participation!
John Furlough is the Security - Facilities Manager for Gilbarco in Greensboro
He has been a resident of Greensboro since 1989, first moving here from Appalachian State University to work as a Police Officer with the Greensboro Police Department. Married with 2 children he joined a family-owned HVAC controls business and stayed in contractor services for the next 12 years. In 2009 he became the Director of Facilities at the American Hebrew Academy responsible for all aspects of buildings/grounds/sports center and athletic fields management. In 2019 he began working at Gilbarco as Security and Facilities Manager responsible for plant Security, all mechanical maintenance and repairs, facilities, staff and contractor services. John was just sworn in as President of our Chapter.
Steven Gittis is the Sr. Manager of Facilities | Construction | Projects at Kontoor Brands in Greensboro (Parent Company of Wrangler and Lee)
After Graduating Penn State with a Masters in Metals Science and Engineering, Steven worked in Cincinnati first for GE Aircraft Engines and then with Procter and Gamble. P&G responsibilities included engineering of water systems, operations management, project management, and logistics. He moved 6 times with the last move locating him in Greensboro. He has been with Kontoor Brands for 20 months. He is responsible for the facilities in Greensboro including internal and external systems and maintenance, development of standards for facility upfit and lighting for office areas, and developing a standard for stores. Steven is currently working on getting the FMP designation.
Chelsea Swaim joined Forsyth County Government in 2016 and is currently the County's Property Manager
She oversees leasing of County owned space, manages a variety of service contracts, coordinates the disposition of surplus property, procures supplies for the County's print and mail shop, and liaises with the court system in Forsyth County for facility related matters. She was recently named as one of the County's COVID Heros for her role in procurement and distribution of PPE supplies to County departments and the local court system during the pandemic. Prior to being employed with Forsyth County, Chelsea worked at Surry Community College. In 2009, Chelsea graduated from High Point University where she earned a BS in Marketing with a double major in Business Economics. She then graduated from Charleston Southern University in 2017 with an MS in Organizational Management. Chelsea enjoys practicing yoga, being outdoors sipping on a locally brewed cup of coffee and trying out new restaurants around town.
